Batch Uploading Articles to Town News Bloxs

Too, collections! So you lot can batch upload child assets directly to a photograph gallery. =)

  • |

You're just stealing that collections idea from my feature request ticket from last year! ;)

  • |

Has in that location been any evolution on calculation the batch upload option to collection assets?  Nosotros would detect this extremely useful and a big fourth dimension-saver besides!

  • |

Bully minds recollect alike!

I love the batch upload into a story thought. Which makes me think; is at that place a possibility of simplifying the procedure of adding unmarried image asset to a story? Its always seemed similar a lot of steps simply to upload an image - by creating a new image asset, choosing the upload choice between desktop and Dropbox (we don't utilise) saving that image into the nugget, etc... eventually returning to your article...could at that place be a way to bypass those steps and automagically create an epitome asset in one step? Anyone with me?

Nosotros have a characteristic request in for "batch upload from more places" and also "easier photo upload." Thanks!

  • |

Slap-up to hear, thank you Christine!

  • |

Merely FYI, this "batch upload" feature is available in our next release, due out later this month.

As well, in our last "core" release nosotros besides simplified the process of uploading photos.

  • |

Will that improvement also allow the slugs to upload rather than wiping them out like it does now?

  • |

Did anyone ever address this issue. We have been dealing with this event. It'southward a major pain. We need a way to batch upload photos and not have the slugs stripped out.

  • |

IDK nearly 'slugs' off the height of my head, simply the upload volition preserve exif data, so if you enter stuff similar headline, caption, and byline it'll use that for everything public facing.  The 'headline' exif field will become the asset championship IIRC.

  • |

Actually that doesn't help at all.

The upshot has been, and continues to be, that when y'all employ batch upload, the fslug is pulled from the file name of the photograph. The process is tripping that file info off so your photo asset comes in with no slug so requires each photo to be found and edited to add a slug one at a fourth dimension, so in nigh cases information technology makes batch upload MORE time consuming than simply uploading one at a time.

Still needs to be stock-still.

Our photographers (and magazine artistic director) are mostly using FTP or SMB to batch upload photos.

For times when I do batch upload photos in the browser I so use the Batch Edit functionality to apply the needed slug.

  • |

We accept similar workarounds running but it would be nice if the actress steps weren't required.

I've always felt something got missed if unmarried upload has no issue with translation of file name to slug but batch upload couldn't manage it.

The batch edit option is good for a lot of stuff. But we require each of our photos to be named separately, for example .... mainslug_01, mainslug_02, etc. So nosotros can batch edit, and give the photos the master slug, but it yet requires opening each photo and adding to the slug. Information technology would be nice if TownNews simply figures out a way not strip the slugs on import.

  • |

We need the same for most of our photos which is why we use FTP upload into the system. It has has the benefit of being much faster.

  • |

When you use the batch edit function, you can't change the headline... You can add together keywords, change time, etc., but the headline is non one of the options. Still something I'd like to see.
That beingness said, we do use the batch upload process quite oft, and it'south very nice. We are now updating all this data in the file information on our photos and then we do non need to individually change the name on each photo when in Blox. For my staff working exterior of the office on occasion on an iPad, etc., information technology would be prissy if changing the headline (slug) was part of the batch upload or batch edit process.

There have been significant updates since this first ticket, including being able to batch upload directly into a ticket or story and I capeesh all of that work!

  • |

Looking forwards to it!

  • |

OMG, this! This volition salvage me 5 or 10 minutes a week...which doesn't sound similar much, but are 5-x incredibly frustrating minutes.

Another excellent feature would exist drag and drop uploading -- information technology's not a new or rare feature, information technology'south pretty standard, and it's usually clear cut how to implement

Check it out! Coming later this month...
